Important, Scalable Financing Option for DELL's Business and Consumer PurchasesA large initiative to provide
additional credit financing options for DELL's customers. The challenge -
Lost Revenue in terms of possible credit
financing : With several millions of dollars spent every hour on DELL's
famous online store, most consumers were using existing credit cards (Discover,
AMEX etc.) to finance their purchases. DELL could offer them the same credit
financing - and gain a huge chunk of the financing revenue.
-
Real time integration with credit processing and
background check bureaus: Several pre-qualifications would need to
happen almost real time in order to ensure that a new applicant for credit
financing is approved immediately.
-
Offline processing of initially disqualified
applications: Applicantions that initially came back as
unapproved would need to be examined carefully to see the reason for
disqualification. In most cases, these applications had minor pieces of missing
information. On obtaining the missing information from customers, a re-filing of
the application would need to occur. This offline processing would be a major
component of the application since a lot of valid customer applications may
initally come back with a disqualification.
The Solution Using
Webmethods Integration Server and .NET SOAP, Anuj
helped design and implement a solution which included:
- A WinForms client-side which used .NET SOAP to communicate with various
Webmethods Integrations.
- An extensible Webmethods architecture which had adapters for mainframe systems
(FiServ), flat file I/O, SOAP capable systems and other important backend
systems.
The Result
-
Fully automated and real time workflow from the initial 'filling-out' of a new
application - to performing background credit checks - to creating new
credit accounts - to consumer notifications containing their new account number.
- A highly successful credit financing product launch which brought in millions of
additional dollars of revenue for DELL.
