With my own vanity domain name (anujvarma.com),  I had my own email address – and was happy until last year. Suddenly, the spam volume to my custom email account was off the charts.  Applying all the possible spam filter on the email host  (my hosting provider) – did very little – and the spam continued unabated.

As a workaround, I purchased MailWasher – a windows client application – which lets your filter spam – before it shows up in your inbox. However, it did  a so-so job  – and required constant monitoring and updating.

Someone recommended GMAIL business email as a solution. It lets you configure your custom email account (by modifying the MX Records on your hosting server) to use gmail. The advantages are obvious – you get the spam filter(s ) in use by Google – which are far superior to what your web host would provide.

Lo and behold – a 90% elimination of spam for my custom email account!
