This caused me a lot of grief…every product page was redirecting to the home page.  I tried tweaking the .htaccess file and tweaking the format of the permalinks. All to no avail.

It turns out, it has to do with having a ‘static HTML page’ as your home page. If you change that to ‘Latest Posts’ (simply create a post that contains the contents you want in your home page), then the permalink redirects start working!
