Excel uses a lot of space with empty cells. There isn’t an easy way to figure out how much space is being wasted. I was seeing an Excel file at 22MB – all it contained were a few graphs and a few data sheets. Anyway, one way to eliminate all the extra space is to Save As  –> Excel Binary Workbook. This only saves the actually used cell locations – all the wasted space is eliminated.

My file size dropped from 22BM to 3 MB !!
