The Dominant Right Side Setup + PUNCH Swing
- The left chest should be turned left of target. This provides clearance for right chest to throw itself through the downswing.
- The left side ( upper left arm JOINED with left chest) should allow itself to be thrown by the right chest.
- The right side really needs to display its dominance – it needs to feel more powerful than the left . Best to exercise the right chest, perhaps do some tennis serves. Taking a deep breath should bring out right side’s dominance. The left side should seem inconsequential once the CORRECT right side strength is envisioned. The right chest+arm do not need to be waay out there – just enough to allow for a right side throw of the left side. If the left side is pointing left of target, it should be easy to visualize throwing right side.
- If step 1 is visualized correctly, the left side tension will be perfect.
BACKSWING
Involves Chest + Belly Button + Feet. Left Chest + Belly Button to be thrown back (pushed back) – within the restricting confines of the feet (the feet handle the weight transfer).
COMPLETED BACKSWING
Should consist of the angles being formed on completion. The angles will only be formed if the torso (belly button) is also thrown back along with the chest.
DOWNSWING
Should seem like a punch swing. As you release the angles, think of punching the IMPACT bag.
Alternative Setup Thought (Old)
Start by visualizing left armpit being thrown UNDER the right armpit. This will position the right side slightly ahead of the left – which is what is needed to HIT with the right side. A SOFT left side (as soft as one can imagine it), helps with this setup as well.
