If your email boxes are running out of space on your iPhone, there is a way you can free up a lot of space. This applies to the default iCloud mailbox as well as to any others configured on your iPhone (gmail app etc.)

Login in iCloud.com. If it is from your iPhone, it will just require a passcode.

Go into Mail –> Settings (wheel) –> Preferences –> Composing .

You should see a check box for Mail Drop for attachments. Enable it.

This will prevent large attachments from going back and forth by default – and instead store them on an iCloud Server. On request, these individual attachments can be downloaded.

Units count the number of times an app was downloaded from the app store.

If a user presses the “Get”  (or “Buy”) button in the app store, that counts as an app unit.

The app unit usually means the user DOWNLOADED the app.

A download, however, doesn’t mean the user actually USED the app.

An install is counted when the app is opened for the first time (there is a caveat here as well – the user needs to OPT-IN to have this info sent back to the iTunes store).

This also explains why there are TWO metrics for tracking app usage. The INSTALL is not a reliable metric – since users can opt-out of notifying the app store – hence, you could have a 100 users – none of which notify iTunes that they are using the app.

App Unit is used to mitigate this situation somewhat – you can make a guesstimate as to your actual number of users.

Notice that there are TWO different ways to view AppUnits – – from the Analytics screen and also from the Sales and Trends screen.

Over time, they seem to average out to the same number, however, I have found the ‘Sales and Trends’ to be more accurate.

I want to authorize another user to use my iTunes account (Basically, I want him to be able to purchase music on my behalf – my money – his music selection).

What are my options here? I do not want to necessarily share my apple ID password.

Answer – Need to create a family including you and him. You would be the parent while he would be the child.

I upgraded to iTunes 12 – only to find that my devices were no longer recognized by the new iTunes.

I went through all the blogs, all the apple troubleshooting – nothing worked.

Usual Suspects

  1. My USB port was fine
  2. my Apple mobile device process was running fine

Finally, I noticed iCLOUD for windows running alongside the iTunes apple mobile device process (in my Task Manager).  I decided to kill that process.

Almost instantly, my device (iPhone 4) was recognized by iTunes.

Solution

So – the solution (at least for me) was to disable (or kill) iCloud for windows. Somehow, it was interfering with iTunes’ ability to recognize a plugged in USB device.

Restoring iCloud data onto a new iPhone

Settings—> General –> RESET –>REset all settings –> Will delete all your local data. Now, it is ready to be setup as a fresh iPhone (when it restarts).

After restart, when prompted, select restore from iCloud.

Checking SIM Card Number (ioS6 and above)

Settings –> General –> About –> ICCID (this is the SIM card number)

Or you can remove the sim card and read the number off it.

How do you sync multiple devices to one iTunes?

In general, one iTunes instance = one device – try and change devices and you have a nightmare on your hands. However, I came across a method where I could at least have as many devices synced on the same PC as I needed, without ANY headaches.

Create a separate user account (on your PC)  for each iOS device that you have

This solution isn’t ideal – but it is quick and works. If you have full control of the PC, create a new user account on the PC. Each user gets their own ‘profile’ in iTunes – and can have their own ‘device’ married to that iTunes.’’

Configuring iTunes for the new user

Once you are logged in as the new user, start iTunes (it will ‘configure’ itself for the new user). If it fails to start for any reason, you may have to redownload / reinstall it once again for that user.

Sync your new iOS device with the new iTunes

For all practical purposes, you have a fresh iTunes instance – and it is ready to be married to your new device. You can take it from here.
