Has had a real positive impact. My miss is (was) a pull. I feel like I can swing as hard as I want without pulling or hooking.

One thing to remember is that once your heel starts rising (after impact) your right heel has to be closer to the target than your toe.

If not, you will find your weight stays too far back.

Almost effortless. I’ll try this on the course tomorrow and see what happens.

I used this training aid called tourfoot for the longest time. It was basically a strap on OVER your shoe – with spikes on the bottom. The spikes kept your foot planted (on the range)
For whatever reason, that training aid is no longer available. Try searching on youtube for trail foot down…there are a few tips there.

First round doing it, I was blown away. Hit every fairway and hit 12 greens. Awesome instruction.

I am in Houston and going to try this today…keeping right foot planted and chin back. My main problem is and has been topping, hitting fat, and to a lesser extent slice…but mainly making solid ball contact without topping, hitting behind the ball, and sometimes hitting the ball on the inside.

I would sometimes cure the draw hook tendency via other swing keys but what you describe is the culprit. A fellow golfer pointed this out to me recently and offered the same remedy as you, that’s why I searched on it to see who else mentioned it.

Just to add something…. This swing flaw is not real common but it definitely infects some of us. Those who do this will also find their hands on follow thru sorta wraps “around” the left shoulder rather than gets above it.

Thanks for your comment, Eric.

1. This post is NOT recommending that your foot not come off – it is natural for your right foot to come off during your follow-through. What this post IS recommending that you keep it planted AS LONG as you possibly can (don’t prematurely let it come off the ground).
2. Read up on Tiger Wood’s book (How I play Golf) to see his own recommendation on this tip. Better still, ask your PGA professional. They will tell you the same thing (that’s where I got my tip from – the pro at my club).
3. Lastly, the proof is in the pudding. Not only did it straighten my drives out, it has helped tons of golfers (feel free to just focus on the ones who provided feedback on this post).

FYI – you personally may not see this issue in your swing. This issue affects folks with overactive hips (which prematurely pull the foot off the ground) – way more than it does other folks.

As for your comment on Kenny Perry – I would argue that he hit more fairways than most other golfers his age. That consistency (not gaining more distance, but hitting straighter drives) – is what this tip is about.
Thanks again – and I welcome more comments.

Almost every golfer has their right heel off the ground when swinging the driver. Kenny Perry is a terrible example. If you want to hang back and hit a 30 yard draw, do what Kenny Perry does.
