Normal TLS primarily authenticates the server to the client.

With mutual TLS, both sides present certificates.

This is particularly useful for:

• APIs
• Microservices
• Machine-to-machine communication
• Zero Trust architectures
• AI agents and automated services

Instead of relying entirely on passwords or API keys, each workload can have a cryptographic identity.
