Should UAT data be a copy of production? This isn’t a hard NO – but a maybe. Things to consider:

  • How is the The last production database backup restored over the UAT? Is there a direct network connection (bad) ?
  • Is the data obfuscated to hide sensitive financial, customer or user data?
  • How is the UAT brought back into sync – i.e how do you roll forward the original UAT changes (that got overwritten by the backup) back into UAT?

Just some things to consider when treating your UAT as a mirror of production

Any other suggestions?
